Suffering From Severe Cramps. Ankle Swollen. Was Taking Ditide. What Can Be Done?
Hello doctor ! I have been prescribed ditide for blood pressure .Recently I suffered from severe cramps in the left leg in the calf while walking which subsequently cured itself .However the other day I seemed to have sprained my ankle doing nothing and in a span of 12 hrs my ankle was completely swollen and it became extremely hard for me to walk . Tests revealed my uric acid level as 8.7 which the doctor said was high .I have since started medications, stopped taking ditide ,there is no pain in my knee and the swelling is moderate .I am a non drinker and eat non veg in moderation...once a week or so .Could you diagnose my condition and advise me ? Thanks 1
1. Your cramps were most likely due to electrolyte imbalance caused by Ditide. 2. As you have mentioned you had high Uric acid which again was caused by ditide , causing Acute Gouty arthritis. you have been rightly advised to stop Ditide. Further on you need to keep yourself hydrated, minimise alcohal consumption and avoid high protein diet. 3. Get your Uric acid checked in 4-6 weeks time and also your Fasing lipid profile
