Suffering From Tooth Pain, Lost Sense Of Smell, Stuffy Nose. Taking Antibiotics. Suggestions?

Hello..I have been having a tooth ache for some time now..so far i have lost my sense of smell in my left nostril. i went to the ENT and he said my sinus was fine. i also have a stuffy nose and post nasal drip. could this be due to the toothache? which i think has gotten infected. i am on antibiotics now, but i still have the ache and no smell in left nostril..

Dear friend.

Thanks for sharing your concern.

Can you please mention which tooth is painful?your symptoms appear to be due to sinusitis.

Front tooth chronic infection can cause abscess and can affect your front face especially upper lip and and nose.

Therefore i would suggest you to see your dentist once and get a small x ray done to see the extent and distribution of abscess,if present.

As ,you are already taking antibiotics, upon localization of pus drainage can be done. For further query please let us know.

Hope it helps.

Thanks.

Take care.

hello friend,
thanks for writing to us,

as per your history of stuffy nose its evident that your loss of smell is caused by it,yet you need to confirm by a second opinion from a different ent specialist

as per your toothache is concerned,no toothache doesn't have any direct effect over loss of smell.as you are already in antibiotics ,you now need to have an analgesic now and do visit your dentist to get your tooth treated.

get well soon...take care

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

Tooth ache can have affect on the palate, as you have mentioned you have stuffy nose so loss of smell can be due to ENT problem, i would sugest you to visit to ENT Specialist and get the checkup done.
For tooth ache an x-ray of the affected tooth is required and root canal treatment has to be performed.
Take complete course of antibiotics and analgesics prescribed by the Dentist.

Hope this helps out.

Regards..

Hello,

Thanks for posting your query.

Loss of sense of smell as well as stuffy nose may be due to-

Spread of periapical infection through the infected tooth.

I would suggest you to visit a dentist and get the clinical as well as x-ray evaluation done.

Tooth has to be either root canal treated or extracted depending on severity of infection.

Amoxycillin has to be administered to relieve underlying infection.

Take care.
