Suffering From Ulcer. Suspicious For Malignancy. Reports Shows Deeply Cratered Esophageal Ulcer With No Bleeding. Suggest

My husband had an endoscopy which came back with an ulcer and was suspicious for malignancy. He was told that any of the "white" on the pictures should not be there. I've looked and looked at pictures online. I can't find anything that looks quite like his. The white on the pictures looks like a pus covering areas of the ge junction. Can you describe what the differnce between the actual ulcer and the white that should not be there. It is described as a deeply cratered esophageal ulcer with no bleeding and no stigmata of recent bleeding at the ge junction at 35 cm from the incisors. The lesion (the ulcer or the white stuff?) was 6 mm in largest dimension. Biopsies were taken from the ulder and the ge junction, yadayadayada. He is scheduled for a ct scan this saturday but no one has called us with info from the bioposy that was taken last friday.

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Ulcer can look like cancer. Cancer can look like an ulcer. So just looking at the ulcer wont tell if it is a cancer or not. It is impossible. Some lesions can be more suspicious than the others, but still no way to tell without biopsy result.
White thing in the ulcer area can be a tissues trying to heal it (scar tissues). This is quite normal thing for peptic ulcers.
So I suggest you to wait for the biopsy results. This will be the most actual diagnose.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
