Suffering With Sore Throat, Hot Flashes With Jaw Tingling And Pain. History Of Tonsillectomy. Cause?

Hi dr I have had a sore throat for the past 3 days I went to the dr and I am waiting on the cultures to come back but my real worry is I got really hot and dizzy before and now my jaw is tingling and very painful. I am wondering why this is happening. And before I forget I got my tonsils out in 2009 and the doctor said today they are coming back is there any correlation?

Hi Good Evening,

As you describe that you had tonsillectomy, but your doctor said they are coming back and you have sore throat, it means you have severe infection in remaining part of tonsils.

You might have Acute Pharyngitis or Acute Tonsillitis in remaining parts.

You have infection, which causing all those symptoms like sore throat, fever, pain and swelling of the jaw, and may be difficulty in swallowing.

Hence wait for throat culture report to come and go for sensitive antibiotics, analgesics, anti-inflammatory drugs, and gargles.

But till the culture report come you should take empirical therapy to subside your symptoms as per guidance of your GP.

Regards,

Dr. Naresh Jain.
