Suggest BP Medicines That Do Not Cause Hair Loss

Hello, Are there any low-dose BP meds that do not cause hair loss? I have been on Toprol XL (PVCs) and Nadolol (most recently 20 mg/day) for exercise-induced hypertension, and started to lose handfuls of hair within 30 days of starting each med. My doctor said, Your hair or your life, but that response seems unacceptable to me in my late 40s. My hair has not grown back, even two years off the medication. I have spent hours online trying to find a possible alternative to suggest to my cardiologist, and I ve only found many, many other patients in the same situation with hair loss. Can you help?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If you are athlete or do regular exercise and have no issue relating to tachycardia, you can use non-selective calcium channel blockers like Amlodipine, etc., to keep blood pressure in check. It has very rare chance of causing fair loss.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Regards,
