Suggest OTC Medication To Regularize Cholesterol Levels
I am currently out of cholesterol pills due to a change of insurance in addition to a new health provider insurance. I currently don t have a primary doctor so, I m desperately seeking another option until I can be seen also, I m out of cholesterol pills as well. Do you know of any other over the counter options for me?
Though cholesterol medications would be the best way to control high cholesterol, you can try other options till this is open to you. Diet and exercise changes would help combined with a natural remedy called red yeast rice. This may be available at your local health store.
Red yeast rice actually contains a form of statins (cholesterol tablets), so they may help. Diet changes such as using foods with 'stanols and sterols' that prevent the body from absorbing or keeping cholesterol may also help, that is oats, barley and other cereals, peanuts, brussel sprouts, vegetable oils, almonds, wheat germ.
I hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
