Suggest A Diet Plan For A Patient Diagnosed With Colon Cancer
Hi there:
My son was originally diagnozed with colon cancer. He had a surgery for that and was fine. After 3 months his cancer had spread to the liver. He is told he is in the fourth stage. What are the remedies for this, that is as far as diet etc. He is not eating very well. Any suggestions so that he can get his weight up and secondly what is the life span in a condition like this?
hi. stage 4 colon cancer has better prognosis and multiple treatment options compared to other stage 4 cancers. if liver spread is limited he can undergo surgery for that too. if on both sides then chemotherapy will be used to control disease for time being. if his tumour expresses wild k-ras he can undergo targeted therapy also with good response. give him high protein supplements. more of pulses. hope he do well...no oncologist will fix a life span to any patient.. its individualised.. depends on patient tolerability to treatment, aggressiveness of tumour, etc..
