Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The diet guidelines you are requesting does require a visit with a Registered Dietitian for a carbohydrate controlled low fat, low saturated fat , low sodium diet with instructions on how to use fiber to work with your pockets in the bowel (diverticulosis) and gastroparesis.

To address your questions on gastroparesis first let me tell you how this condition relates to fiber. Gastroparesis is a slowing of the peristalsis of the gastrointestinal system. In conditions of gastroparesis you want to restrict fiber and fat as both will aggravate and further slow down the gastrointestinal tract putting you at increased risk for the formation of a bezoar, or obstruction in your intestines.

Gastroparesis is frequently caused by poor blood sugar control with subsequent damage to the nerves innervating the intestines, so getting on a carbohydrate controlled diet to manage your sugars becomes more apparent in light of the fact you are already exhibiting some neuropathy.

To completely address your questions I am going to refer you for a complete medical nutritional assessment and prescription of a calorie and carbohydrate controlled 1500 mg sodium, low fat, low cholesterol diet with diverticulosis teaching with a registered dietitian. Such a health professional will be able to help you learn how to manage your chronic disease conditions through menu planning, diet teaching and lifestyle modifications. These things are beyond the scope of this forum.

A qualified Dietitian can usually be found in the US by contacting eatright.org for someone in your area or if not in the US, you might have to contact your local or national dietitian academies.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
