Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
So I went to see the ENT last year. I was diagnosed with GERD. I was prescribes Nexium. It seemed to work at that time but now the symptoms have returned (constant clearing of throat, coughing, interrupted coughs when trying to talk) I have scheduled an appointment with the Gastrologist. What am I experiencing?
Hi GERD causes symptoms of sore throat as the gastric acid irritates the vocal cords and posterior pharyngeal wall. You need to do some dietary & lifestyle modifications. Avoid heavy meals at night, do not lie down immediately after taking meals. Take these medications for 1 month. Tab. Nexum 40mg once daily Tab. Motilium 1 tablet thrice daily Do saline gargles or aspirin gargles to reduce throat's inflammation. Take care.
