Suggest A Remedy For Pain Caused By Disturbed Kidney Stone Surgery

I have kidney stone surgery 10 days ago and the stent came out 7 days ago. The pain with the stent was so bad and not even pain meds could help. Once the stent came out the really bad pains now come and go, when the pain gets very bad, I notice there are blood clots in the toilet after I pee. What is going on?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to pain post surgery. Generally, the treatment include an antibiotic to prevent infection, pain medication, and perhaps something to treat bladder spasms and burning with urination. I recommend using Ciprofloxacin twice a day for a week. I also suggest a spasmolytic such as Buscopan 10 mg three times a day. Drink plenty of water to lubricate the stent and encourage any small stones to move out of the kidney.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
