Suggest A Remedy For Prolonged Bronchitis Despite Antibiotic Treatment
I have had bronchitis and have been on 825 mg of amoxicillin twice a day. Finished it all two weeks ago. I still have a cough but now every time I cough I have pain under my left shoulder blade. Is this cause for concern or is it a strain from coughing?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of prolonged bronchitis despite antibiotic treatment. Well acute bronchitis is usually caused by viruses, typically the same viruses that cause colds and flu . Antibiotics don't kill viruses, so this type of medication isn't useful in most cases of bronchitis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you t consult chest specialist again for proper examination . Doctor may order chest x-ray , sputum test and pulmonary function test . Doctor may prescribe anti viral , anti inflammatory , anti allergic and pulmonary therapy. Avoid intake of cold carbonated beverages and outside food.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
