Suggest A Solution For The Reduction Of RBC For A 15 Year Old Girl

My 15 year old niece has been dealing with her RBC levels dropping severely. Her current regimen has been to get infusions every month. To hopefully help stabilize RBC production. Initially we were thinking it was working and now she s bottomed out again. Can you recommend a direction?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

From the given history your niece seems to be having severe anemia for which she was given infusions every month which unfortunately did not help in increasing her RBCs levels. I advise her to be examined by a physician to rule out any underlying continuous blood loss or other medical illness. The underlying cause should be determined and treated along with treatment of anemia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
