Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi - I,m taking multaq - for tachycardia,is there another medicine that works equally as well ? I recently went to ER with severe sciatica- they told me multaq wouldn,t go with many other meds & had a difficult time bringing down my pain level & blood pressure, suggested I talk with my cardiologist about changing meds. I have lots of back problems.
Multaq is composed of 'Dronedarone', which is mainly for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. Dronedarone belongs to a group of medicines known as anti-arrhythmics.
Drug directory has currently listed one brand of Dronedarone which is 'Multaq'. Amiodarone is an alternative and is among the most effective atrial fibrillation medications, but it has major toxicity issues.
Kindly consult your doctor for appropriate dose and mode of intake before changing the medication.
Hope the information provided helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
All the best.
Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S.
