Suggest Alternate Medicine For Vitamin Supplement

My husband, 73, has been prescribed this vitamin supplement 2 x a day. We are having trouble finding them here, in Griffin, Ga. at Walmart, Walgreen s. CVS. Is there a problem with distribution? Can we substitute a store brand. We have compared some but find a few differences that I feel may be important. I am a registered nurse and want my husband to have exactly what he was advised to take by his cardiologist. Thank you.

Hi,

You are right to be concerned. If the cardiologist prescribed a supplement that means he wants the specific ingredients in the amounts he intends to be taken and even a small difference can alter his treatment plan. You should find the vitamin prescribed by the cardiologist or contact his office for an alternative. Many supplements can be found in Registered Dietitians professional dispensaries as they carry most prescribed vitamins. A dispensary such as Fullscript might carry the supplement you seek.
