Suggest Alternate Over The Counter Medication For Diazepam
Hello, I have been taking DAN 5619 5 Diazepam 5mg prescribed by my physician and I have switched pharmacies and they have substituted the above for mylan 345 diazepam 5 mg which is ineffective vs. the DAN. Havd they discontinued the DAN and if so what is comparable??? any help is greatly appreciated as I have tried the MYLAN is it does not work. Thank you.
Hello, Thankyou for asking your question at health care magic.
Both DAN 5619 and MYLAN 345 contain 5 mg of diazepam. There are no alternate over the counter medication available for diazepam. If you have been taking diazepam for longer period of time, you are likely to develop tolerance to the given dose (means your body stop responding to the dose). If so,you will feel like medication is not working. I recommend that you consult your primary care physician to reconsider the need for diazepam (Long term use of diazepam is not encouraged unless for specific indications) and dose adjustment as needed.
Hope I was able to answer your questions Please feel free to address any more concerns Regards, Dr.Lekshmi
