Suggest Alternate Over The Counter Medication For Metoprolol
90 yr old male. Suffered aspiration pneumonia. Drained 1 1\2 liters off around right lung. Has chf injection fraction of 30. Was on metoprolol 25 bid. Stopped metoprolol and started benazepril 5 MG daily. Blood pressures 110/ 54 pulse of 54 while on metoprolol. Which is the drug of choice without making him sleep 24 hours a day?

The heart rate has to be controlled and that’s why metoprolol is used. It is the drug of choice and universally preferred one. If you are not tolerating metoprolol, alternatives like bisoprolol can be tried.
