General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi my dear,

I am sorry for the health situation your son is going through.

Viral fever would last from 3 to up to 7 days sometimes, unfortunately. Unless, it is complicated with bacterial infection.

Cefixime is an antibiotic and is not used for viral fever but for a probably bacterial infection like throat infection or pulmonary infection.

I think your child has gone dehydrated, and this will delay recovery. So, discuss with his pediatrician to start rehydration therapy intravenously if fever is not down after 5 days.
Give him ORS with lots of fluids, and probiotics along with cefixime and paracetamol.

Wish fast recovery!
