Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was prescribed Levofloxacin (spelling) for a very bad cold which has been going on for six weeks. I m rather appalled one of the effects of the medication could be tendon rupture. Who needs that? I don t have pneumonia. Can you suggest another antibiotic. I had an allergic reaction to pencillin once so can t take that.
hi, according to several study done for viewing side effect of levofloxacin, it shows very rare chance of tendon rupture. So no worry if you are taking it for a week. Alternate for levofloxacin is azithromycin can be used becoz you have allergy to penicillin group. No worry regarding common cold. Drink more water. Take fruits. Steam inhalation is also useful.
