Suggest Alternative Medication For Anxiety

I am trying to com off a low dose of clonazapam with the help of some ativan . the changes are leaving me all over the place. Is there a safe anti anxiety medication i can take for longer term use. I also take citalopram, trazadone and mertazzapine at night

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine drug and is highly dependence producing drug. You have been weaning off from this drug and have persistent anxiety. Medicines like Gabapentin, Pregabaline etc can be used in such condition and can help to reduce your symptoms. These medicines cause good sleep and also reduce the craving of benzodiazepines. You can discuss with your doctor regarding these medicine. The medicines will also help to supplement the actions of other drugs you are taking like Citalopram, Trazodone and Mirtazapine. Both mirtazapine and trazodone are known to induce good sleep and are very useful in benzodiazepine withdrawal.
