Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I am 26 years old.I had cough for 2 months which was heavy in initial stages after use of azithromycin it supressed a bit but still I am coughing.my doctor said my lungs are doing good but because my mother died because of pulmonary fibrosis she ordered an xray.it showed increased interstitial markings on my right lung.she said it is due to post infectious or inflammatory change.chances of acute subtle infection are not excluded.is there any chance for it to be pulmonary fibrosis
Since you have a strong family history of cystic fibrosis, the best way to clear you doubts is to do a sweat test.
It does not involve and needles, the doctor/technician will apply a solution to you arm or leg and give a minimal electric stimulation and from the area they will take a sample of your sweat and check it for salt content. It is a gold standard test and not costly.
