Suggest Alternative Medication For Depression & Anxiety
I have been on Cymbalta for about 3 years for depression and anxiety. I have found that it really just helps my anxiety. I feel very tired and unmotivated all the time, and struggle to get through the day. Can another anti depressant be used with the cymbalta? Thanks, Carol
Cymbalta is duloxetine and it belongs to SNRI group of antidepressants. The drug have excellent effects in anxiety also. You are reporting improvement in anxiety but have complaints of tiredness, lack of motivation etc. These symptoms could be the part of mild depression associated with anxiety. You are continuously taking duloxetine since last 3 years so I would advise you to consult your psychiatrist again for these symptoms and dose adjustments if any.
For quick relaxation try relaxation methods like Progressive Muscle Relaxation Exercises, Yoga. These methods will help to decrease anxiety and will also improve day time functioning.
Many medicines like Modafinil can prove useful in your case. Modafinil help to improve day time alertness and decrease tiredness. As this is a prescription medicines so you have to consult your psychiatrist for that.
Thanks, hope this helps you
