Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am currently taking Lotrel 10/20 for hypertension an have been doing so for many years but next month I go on to medicare and must find a generic replacement for the lotrel because it not covered by my supplemental insurer. Do you have any suggestions?
The medication Lotrel 10/20mg is a combination of two hypertension medication. These two medications are amlodipine (10mg) and Benazepril (20mg). The generic name for this medication is Amlodipine-Benazepril.
This medication combination is also available with the name of Amlobenz in few places. It is exactly the same as Lotrel but a different brand.
If the combination of the drug is entirely not available then other similar combination may be used like Amlodipine-Valsartan, Amlodipine-perindopril. These drugs have a similar effect on Lotrel.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Talal Hussain, General & Family Physician
