Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Suggest Alternative Medication In Place Of Oxycodone
Is there a substitute or better pain killer than my taking Oxycodone? I have scar tissue above right ear from having meningitis. The Rx has been able only to control/limit the strength of the pain. The pain never completely goes away but is tolerable. Is there some Rx out there that would last longer per dosage with less side-effects? Presently the pain goes up & down throughout a 24 hour period. Very tiring! I am a 100% Disabled USAF Veteran.
So if the pain is not controllable on oxycodone then you can get a continuous release morphine tablets or infusion pump which releases morphine directly into blood continuously and you can also control the rate of drug delivery as per your need. Please discuss this with your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Loveleen Sharma, General & Family Physician
