Suggest Alternative Medicine For Hydrocodone And Acetaminophen

Hello, I was prescribed hydrocodone/acetaminophen tablets following my dental work, for pain management. I didn t notice until I got home that the majority of the medicine was acetaminophen(sp?). I have heard there are severe side affects on the liver. What alternative would you suggest? Thank you for your time....Daniel

Hello. Acetaminophen is a good pain killer and you are right to say that it has a side effect of liver toxicity. But a lot of drugs have this side effect because most drugs are metabolized in liver. Anyway the side effects are more if high dose is used or used for a prolonged period of time. But if you are not comfortable with this drug then naproxen is good alternative for dental pain. Hope that answer the question. Thanks
