Suggest Alternative Medicines For Burning And Tingling Sensation In My Lips

Hi, i have been struggling with a burning senstation and tingling sensation in my lips where the lips are very pale and dry and I am beginning to get some irritation in my nose. This has been occurring since June 26. I have been given prescribed prednisone (50mg) and antihistamines yesterday on july 7th, but I havent really noticed any changes. I should also mention that I have anxiety which has become worse because of the inability to figure out whats wrong.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Burning and tingling can sometimes be related to issues with nerves in a particular area.

If nerves are not working as they should, this is called neuropathy. It can be temporary or permanent and there are different possible causes.

Some common causes are trauma, diabetes, liver or kidney disease, low levels of vitamin b12 or folate, thyroid disease, side effect of medication, infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
