Suggest Alternative Of Xulane Birth Control Patches
Hi I m 16 and i m on the Xulane birth control patches. My doctor had prescribed me these patches about a month ago without my mother knowing. My boyfriend and i went to order the patches and he went to pick them up for me and secretly gave me them. The thing is that soon i m going to need a refill and my doctors office unfortunately closed and i don t know if i need another prescription, my insurance card, or etc... without my mom knowing. Please help me. Thanks
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Xulane patch contains combination hormone medication and is used to prevent pregnancy. It contains 2 hormones: a progestin (norelgestromin) and an estrogen (ethinyl estradiol). Ortho Evra patch contains the same combination and can be used in its place as an alternative. In case you are unable to continue with the patches, you can temporarily switch to oral birth control pills or use barrier methods like condoms with use of spermicidal agents. Later, you can again revert back to use of such patches. Hope the information provided would be useful. All the best.
