Suggest Alternative Remedy For Resistance Towards Focalin And Vyvanse
hi, i am currently prescribed 40mg of vyvanse and 5 mg of focalin. i do not believe these are working, i know i may need to up the dose, but when i went from 30mg vyv to 40mg it only worked for about a week, and only lasted about 5 hours which is why i take focalin. after taking these for a few months it pretty much stopped working completely. is there anything i can do differently besides constantly upping the dose? because if i do that ill be at the max within a month. please advise, this stuff really helped me when it worked.
Of course, both the drugs Vyvanse and Focalin can be given together, as taking the drug in combination may increase the efficacy & requiring some what low doses of individual salt, thus minimising the side effects of individual drug. However, individual dose in each patient may be different depending on the efficacy, side effects & tolerability of individual salt. The exact dosage of each drug is to be found by increasing or decreasing the dosage in a gradual tapering manner.
Usually the dose of vyvanse may be started from minimum 20 mg/day gradually increasing it by 10 mg weekly, till the most effective dose is reached. Maximum recommended dose may be 70 mg/day. Similarly dosage of focalin may be started from 1o mg/day & increasing it 5-10 mg weekly till the effective dose is reached. Maximum recommended dose may be 40 mg/day. However, in the beginning, the dosage may have to be adjusted more frequently till a stabilised dose is reached. Therefore, your concern for increased dose does not seem right. Still all the changes in the dosage should be strictly under guidance of your doctor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
