Suggest Alternative To Seroquel For Bipolar Disorder

I have been diagnosed as being bipolar and have been prescribed 300 mg of seroquel and I have done well on it. I now have a new insurance which will not pay for seroquel. I would like some information as to alternative medications for when I discuss it with my doctor.

Hi,

There are a number of drugs other then Seroquel that may work for bipolar disorder these includes olanzapine, quetiapine, which are from the same group of Seroquel. Other include valproic acid. Lithium is also quite effective but less liked these days for its side effects.

So there are quite a few, but all such drugs to be used under specilaist advice. You can discuss these options with your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
