Suggest Alternative Treatment For Controlling Cholesterol
I was just informed that my total cholesterol is 249and now the doctor wants me to take meds..i do not want to take any meds..Im currently treating gerd with omeprazole. .. i prefer an alternative to treat my cholesterol. I am 44 yrs old 5 2 and im 174 pounds..,I would like a second opinion.
Hello and welcome to HCM, The normal level for cholesterol is below 200 mg/dL. A level of 249 mg/dL is higher than its normal biological interval. Life style modifications can help to reduce the elevated cholesterol initially. Life style modifications include regular exercise, low intake of saturated fats, low calorie intake and high protein intake. If the cholesterol level does not reduce despite life style modifications, then medication will have to be started. The level of triglyceride, LDL, HDL and VLDL also need to be known for further management. Thus, kindly post these parameters for further assessment.
