General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. When the joint space is narrowed extremely and arthritis is in late stage then better option is knee replacement. The prosthesis used for this can last for 25 to 30 years. It has good out come and improved standard of life. You can try applying capsaicin cream locally, using osteoarthritis arthritis knee brace, and pain medications for relief from the condition. Injection of corticosteroids or viscosity agents like hyaluronic acid can be considered also. If all these not helping then knee replacement is the good option. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
