Suggest An OTC Alternative Medication For Warfarin
Hi, I ran out of my warfarin pills...I was put on warfarin for PE last year and ER docs said it is for life (have had 2) and for one month...I got a new job and now my old student insurance ran out last month, but still had pills. Now I have a new job but don t have new doctor yet, and my pills are gone. What can I do? I took aspirin yesterday and today but tomorrow worries me...
Unfortunately, Warfarin cannot be substituted with OTC drugs. There are other anticoagulants but they're far more expensive than Warfarin. Aspirin is cheaper but it is not adequate when proper coagulation is needed. It's the best you can do though at this time.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Panagiotis Zografakis,
