Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I m Rajadurai (29yrs/70Kgs) suffering from severe allergy which is causing heavy sinusitis (cold) problems. I m in-taking montair lc (prescribed) mainly for it but it is causing heavy drowsiness throughout the day, even if I sleep for more than 9hrs. Is there an alternative for it? Thanks in advance!
Based on the history you have shared, you should use montelukast alone instead of using the combination with antihistamines like levocetirizine which you are using right now.
That must be causing sedation. Though it is claimed to cause less sedation then conventional antihistamines but still in some individuals sedation is quite significant. Also using steam inhalations may be helpful.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
