Suggest An Alternative Medicine For Amethia

I was wondering if there are any birth control methods that do not cause breast enlargement. I have currently been taking Amethia since the beginning of July. I am 22 and this is the first form of birth control I have ever taken besides condoms and emergency contraceptive plan B. I have been experiencing very intense breast pain, swelling, and enlargement since about a week or two after starting Amethia. I have also been experiencing intense emotions and depression. Is there any other birth control methods that will not cause these symptoms?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Birth control pills contain hormones.

This hormones in birth control pills may cause changes in your breasts such as swelling.

This change in breast size is the result of fluid retention or temporary weight gain caused by the increase in hormones.

It is not permanent.

So, if you want to avoid this side effects you may try other birth control methods such as condoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
