Suggest An Alternative Medicine For Metoprolol Taken For COPD

I have severe COPD and am on supplementary oxygen. I get pulsus bigeminus every day for short or longer spells. I took 25mg Metoprolol, but this lowered my pulse too much. Any other options? I take Serevent 500 inhaler 2x /day and Duavent nebulisers 2x/day.

Hi,

Duavent (Ipratropium, Salbutamol) can cause cardiac arrhythmia. Metoprolol sustained release 12.5 mg may have the desired suppression avoiding excessive slowing of heart rate. Consult your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Tushar Kanti Biswas, Internal Medicine Specialist
