I have been diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea. I have a history of infection in my colon which hospitalized me multiple times. I am on Medicare/Medicaid with United Health AARP prescription coverage. My Dr. prescribed Viberzi for treatment and it works great. I have been on this medication for around six months. My insurance required a prior authorization for approval of payment of the medicine and I was approved to receive it. My insurance recently denied my prior authorization request for the Viberzi and I need help finding a comparable medication that will be approved. My condition (IBSD) has greatly improved with this medicine(Viberzi) and I am desperate to find another medicine that will work as well on my condition. When I do not have the medicine (Viberzi) I suffer greatly from abdominal pain, chronic diarrhea and nausea. Can you please advise me if there is another medicine that treats IBSD as well or better than the Viberzi?
