Suggest An Alternative Of Loestrin

I am 45 years old and have used Loestrin for approximately 20 years. As I am now overweight and due to my age my doctor has advised that I use something else. I tried the progesterone only pill but bled nearly all the time. I don’t really want to use an IUD/IUS / are there any other options?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your clinical history is concerned, please follow like this:

1) Do a clinical examination by your treating Doctor [Gyn] and to confirm do few investigations like [CBC with differential, fasting blood sugar, TSH, Hysteroscopy, and Ultrasound scan].

2) Do change your medication to [combined] in place of [progesterone] alone and it is due to hormonal imbalance.

To prevent overweight take treatment for underlying cause responsible for it and take correct treatment accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Uday Nath Sahoo
