Suggest An Alternative Of Metoprolol Succinate

I am taking metoprolol succ, 25 mg. It has caused me to gain 4 to 5 lbs. I am looking for another drug, similar, but does not cause weight gain. I take this med in the evening, for my High blood pressure. In the morning, I take valsartan and HZ2. I am concerned about this weight gain.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Metoprolol does not cause weight gain, however it can cause dyslipidemia (elevated cholesterol and triglycerides). If you can’t tolerate Metoprolol you can switch to other alternatives like Propranolol and Betaprolol.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
