Suggest An Alternative Treatment For GERD And Sore Throat And Cough With Phlegm
I have a consistent feeling of something in my throat. I cough and small amount of plem comes up and clears for a few seconds. My throat is sore and it is aggravating. I am being treated for GERD and taking Claritin but no relief. This has been going on for months on and off. I am a tobacco user and frequent coffee drinker. Besides this I feel fine.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of GERD and sore throat and cough with phlegm which seems to be due to strep throat , viral pharyngitis, acid reflux and due to cigarette smoking as well.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult a Pulmonologist and get evaluated and go for blood tests, throat swab culture and chest x ray to find out exact diagnosis and start treatment. You should eat light and non spicy specially at night, eat at least one hour before going to bed, take antacid after every meal and keep your head elevated while sleeping. You should take antibiotics such as Levofloxacin. You should do warm saline gargles and avoid spicy and chilled foods. You should use mist humidifiers in room.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
