Suggest An Alternative Treatment For High Fever For My 15-month-old Son
Hi, My 15 months old son is under 103 F fever since yesterday night... gave crocin drops 1 ML yesterday night and today morning but there is no improvement. It was 103 in morning too. Then we took him to a local doctor who prescribed these medicines 1) Meftal-P suspension 3ml thrice a day 2) levolin thrice a day 3) Zifi 100 Readymix twice a day. He said first to give Meftal-p for fever, if no improvement then advised to give Crocin drops 5 ML . I m really worried as my son is under high fever, getting very cranky, tears from eyes and running nose too. Could you please advise what for Levolin is given and what for Zifi 100 is given?? Are there any side effects of Levolin and Zifi 110? Please advise. should I give these other two also. And for fever what is best - meftal or crocin??

* As per my clinical experience, both of crocin and meftal are best antipyretic agents for pediatric patients.
* The role of cefixime ( zifi ) is anti-bacterial via inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis.
* The Levolin is bronchodilator agent and helps to relieve congestive symptoms of chest due to respiratory infection.
* Additional therapy of cold tepid water sponging is a must to relieve the fever better way, rather than exceeding any prescribed doses of current medications.
* If the fever continues over 24 hours of starting medications, consult his pediatrician for the need of lab test of complete blood count and further guidance.
