Suggest An Antibiotic That Does Not Cause Discoloration Of The Teeth

28 yr old Daughter was prescribed amoxiilian for a sinus infection with laryngitis. it seemed to work with a side effect of brown lines and discoloration on her teeth. After being well for a week she is sick again with same symptoms that appear more like a cold now and have green discoloration. They have prescribed biaxin this time. That drug also says it causes same side effect. Any good antibiotic that does not cause that side effect?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Antibiotics does not generally cause discoloured teeth..

The higher chances are that there is staining caused by some other factors..

Also please check the colour of the pills as they can contain edible dyes..

Discuss about this with your doctor so that appropriate antibiotics can be advised..

Also maintaining good oral hygiene, regular brushing, flossing, gargling after meals and professional teeth cleaning that is scaling should be done..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
