Suggest Best Methods For Birth Control

I had a stint put in 2 years ago, the doctor who did the procedure said that I should stay on Plavix for 2 years, I called the family doctor he said if I can afford it stay on it, which sure made me wonder! I don't like taking pills if you don't need them. If you can give me some advice this would be greatly appreciated. I have cut back on my smoking, I know have to quit, too much stress in my life, at the age of 52 and starting over, no job, divorced, etc. Just a nigthmare hoping someday things will change!

Hi,

Happy to know that you have decided to quit smoking. Each one of us are battling our own problems. We need to be strong and be positive. Regular exercise and yoga definitely help in keeping the mood elevated.

It is important that you continue taking Plavix to avoid the risk of developing blood clots. Not sure why the GP commented so.
Pills are not to be used in your condition.

The ideal contraception for you would be progesterone containing an intrauterine system (Mirena, Emily). It needs to be inserted into the uterus by a doctor.

It acts locally and has fewer side effects. It needs to be changed in 7 years time. By then you would have attained menopause.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
