Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hello doctor, my baby is 3 months old, when he was six weeks old he was given Pentavac(painful injection) and that time he had a fever and was very disturbed. I want to know this time I can change the injection . Someone has suggested me that pentavac is five Plus injection and that is very strong and we should give the child 4 + 1 injection, means 2 injections should be given to the child and the Hib injection (2) is very strong and it will be given after the break of some days please tell me it is right or not. Thanks
Pentavac has five types of antigens in it ,only the one for Pertussis whole cell -'P' component causes pain. One can change the vaccine to Acellular-aP vaccine. Also one may continue Pentavac, using paracetamol subsequently.
