Hello,
Thank you for asking at HCM.
I went through your history and would like to make suggestions for you as follows:
1. Most of the allopathic medications for
asthma are very good at controlling symptoms of asthma but they usually do not "cure" asthma. However, as they are very effective in controlling symptoms, I would not suggest you to withhold medications without consulting your doctor. I usually suggest my such patients to continue medications until their asthma is improved/"cured".
2. Asthma is a very complicated disease, related to multiple factors such as diet, physical exercise, lung capacity, immunity, allergies,
stress, environment, genetics, heredity, etc. So depending upon these factors, it is very difficult to predict whether and when it will improve. There is no single therapy/treatment that can promise "cure".
However, in practice, doctors (including myself) see many patients who improve/are cured over years and are no more asthmatic. So it is important to stay positive and make efforts towards improving health.
3. All therapies - allopathy, ayurveda or
homeopathy - act differently. So I always suggest my patients to consult expert in their own fields. So please consult a qualified Ayurveda Doctor and a qualified Homeopathy doctor to ask about their treatments.
4. As an Allergist-Immunologist, I would suggest you
allergy testing for common air-borne allergens like house dust mites, molds, pollens, insect
proteins, pet dander, etc. This will help you identify the substances causing allergies to you as well as to know the measures to avoid them.
5. Based on allergy testing, an Allergist-Immunologist may prescribe you allergen specific
immunotherapy which works on immune system to gradually improve your allergy symptoms over a long period.
6. In general, please avoid exposure to dusts, smokes and air pollution as much as possible.
7. Regular physical exercise including breathing exercises and light diet rich in
vitamins & minerals will also help you in a long run by improving your lung capacity and immunity respectively.
8. If stress is an important factor in your life, I would suggest you regular meditations and relaxation practices.
To summarize, regular medications, allergen specific immunotherapy, life-style changes and support of complementary therapies - all are important to improve/cure asthma.
Hope above suggestions will be helpful to you.
Should you have any further query, please feel free to ask at HCM.
Wish you the best of the health ahead.
Thank you & Regards.
