Suggest Better Treatment For Seizures And Epilepsy
HI I am epileptic and have a scar on left side of brain and was diagnosed with epilepsy at young age. It has always been controlled by medications. When I had a seizure I would have EEG tests and medications were always increased. Well recently i had a lot of seizures so as per usual doctor increased medication. However what was different this time is My eeg came out clear, ct scan came out clear but MRI showed a shadow around my scar and my neurolgist believes it may be causing my auras and seizures. He said potential surgery in future but first I am having this 5 hour eeg...which is video taped i believe. Just wondering what this shadow may be? Is it a tumour...perhaps benign tumour. Im at a loss. Very tired now and less seizures now that medication has increased but under a lot of stress. I just want to know what this shadow may be. HELP!
Management of epilepsy depends on the identification of the type of seizures and the underlying cause for it.. In your case, as your question shows, seems to be secondary to a brain lesion..The shadow around the scar might very well be the oedema around the primary lesion, that can be seen in post seizure scans..However, it is not clear which type of seizures u exactly have.. EEG would help to identify the underlying epileptiform activity and origin of it, thereby might help to classify the epilepsy.. I would suggest you to get your epilepsy classified and then take the appropriate medications in proper doses as prescribed.. All d best!
