Suggest Birth Control Pill Which Cause No Weight Gain
Hi, I have recently changed from the depo shot to nuva ring. i was wondering if this is as an effective method of birth control as depo and i read in the pamphlet that it makes you gain weight. is this true? and if so is there a method of birth control with a lesser chance of weight gain?
Actually the contraceptive that has the highest risk of weight gain is Depo-Provera. If you didn't gain weight on Depo, it is unlikely you would gain weight from a low-dose product like the Nuvaring. All hormonal contraception has different side effects in different users, and there is no way to know how you react until you try the product for at least two to three cycles. The package insert of any hormonal contraceptive product would list potential weight gain as a side effect, but just as many people lose weight on the pill. So if you like the convenience of Nuvaring, you shouldn't be afraid to try it for a month or two, remembering the side effects of any birth control, which are mostly irregular bleeding, bloating and mood changes, occur in the first month and usually resolve after three. I hope this answered your question and was helpful.
