Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have blood in my urine not ever time but most times. It start out as a glob and then decreases in amount based on my naked eye view.no pain and have had the systoms for several days.I am a white male 62 years old on blood pressure medicine for several years and just recently got a cortisone shot in my shoulder.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Painless passage of blood in urine in an elderly is an alarming sign. Most common cause for passage of blood in urine is urinary bladder malignancy or urinary bladder cancer. I suggest you to consult an urologist and get a routine urine examination and microscopical examination for malignant cells. In addition, cystoscope should also be planned. Cystoscopy involves examination of the the urinary bladder with the aid of a cystoscope to look for any suspicious lesion. Besides a lesion in the urinary bladder, renal dysfunction can also lead to passage of blood in urine. Thus, renal function tests should also be done to assess the function of kidneys.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
