Suggest Cause For Lumps On The Forearm In Patients With A History Of Diabetes
I have a small lump that appeared yesterday on the top side of my left forearm. It is warm to the touch but is not red in appearance. It burns like scolding water when I touch it and sometimes when I move my arm in certain ways. I am at a loss for what it could be. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am a 39 year old female. History of heart disease, diabetes, restless legs syndrome, sleep apnea, migraines and erosive gastritis.
As you have diabetes, you are prone to have any kind of bacterial infection. Especially if its not controlled well. From your description the lump which you have is due to some inflammation. Its hard to give precise answer not being able to see it, but warmness and pain are usually signs of soft tissues infection.
The best way to find out what is this lump, is soft tissues ultrasound. This test is able to describe the consistency of this lump. If it is an abscess (seen as a fluid collection in the ultrasound) should be incised and drained.
If its just soft tissues inflammation, antibiotic treatment should help.
