I am 25yrs old, 5'9, 190lbs. I suffer from PCOS, and do not have regular periods at all unless on birth control. I also suffer from MDD and take 20mg daily of Cipralex. I would like to get pregnant, but have been having a hard time doing so because of infrequent menstration, and am worried about possible birth defects from the Cipralex.
Cipralex may be chosen to be discontinued for a specific duration of time and/or substituted with another drug but this is only going to be decided once pregnancy is confirmed. As for PCOS, it is a condition that can be tackled. If you do not find any response with the birth control durgs then request your doctor for other medications like the more commonly used metformin these days. Once your periods are regularized or close to being regular, your doctor can initate clomiphene citrate and hCG injections if required to promote fertility.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes.
