hi doctor, i just did an ivf cycle. my doctor gave me utrogestan (3 vaginal capsules every day) and proluton depo (an injection every thursday and monday) should i continue taking the above medicines during the first trimester of pregnancy in case my beta HCG was positive?
HELLO DEAR I understand your problem, dear utrogest and proluton depo contains progesterone hormone which is a pregnancy hormone necessary for maintanence of pregnancy. Before 12 weeks of gestation progesterone hormone is maintained by corpus luteum and after 12 weeks progesterone hormone maintained by placenta. Thus up to 12 weeks after IVF , progesterone usually supported by giving supplementation . I would advice you to continue medication up to 12 weeks. ALL the best THANKS
