Suggest Cure For Erectile Dysfunction

Dear Sir: I never complained of erectile dysfunction (ED). I had a very active sex life. At the age of 73 I was diagnosed with an aortic valve problem and was operated and changed the valve. Two months after the operation I discovered that I had ED problem which is that I can get partial erection and that for a short time. After 3 years of this I am still suffering from ED. Is this normal after such an operation and can it be corrected? Thank you and best regards. O. Shabsigh YYYY@YYYY

Hello welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

After surgery of valve it could be possible. I will suggest you a test to rule out this effect. Color Doppler of penis will assess the blood supply. Before taking any medication for this problem go for this test first. Do not worry these test will help us to find out the best treatment.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
